Handsome Dan Yale Mascot Poster?

I recently acquired the Handsome Dan Yale Mascot poster type item pictured below and I was wondering if anyone can help with some questions I have regarding it. It is 14 inches long, 11 inches wide. It is blank backed and is on a heavy paper/cardboard material. Does anyone know what this was used for? Was it a promotional item given away back when Dan was alive? Please provide any other information regarding this item. Please also share your own Handsome Dan items.
