Default SOLD - 1870 "The World" newspaper (Jan to June) - Red Stockings win streak ends

Up for sale is a bound volume of "The World" newspaper (NY) from 1/1/1870 to 6/30/1870. Some pages have tears, some with loss, but mostly in incredible condition for being almost 150 years old. There are no Sunday newspapers and it is also missing one week from Saturday May 28th to Friday June 3rd. The newspapers have quite a bit of baseball content, as well as news on Cuba and the death of Charles Dickens.

Included in this collection of newspapers is an amazing write-up, inning-by-inning summary, and box score of one of the greatest games in the history of baseball. On 6/14/1870, the Red Stockings were defeated by the Brooklyn Atlantics in extra innings, ending an 84 game winning streak for the Cincinnati club. I've attached photos of that content below.

There are also dozens of other box scores and write-ups of games of professional and amateur ball clubs playing in New York during the first half of 1870. Any baseball historian will have immense pleasure in looking through these newspapers.
