I don't blame the players a bit. The problem is with the fans and not the players usually. The last autograph I ever got was in 2003. I was 17 and at an Indians game. They were playing the Angels and Tim Salmon was signing during pregame. I was a little embarrassed because I thought I was too old to get a player's auto. I was dismayed as I saw a guy in his mid 50's that had a album full of Salmon cards to sign. He was literally elbowing 10 year olds so some guy 20 years his junior could sign 10 cards for him. That experience was so disgusting I don't think I'll ever ask for an auto ever again. Growing up I got hundreds of autographs and only had one bad experience ever and that was Walter Payton... total jerk. To me it's pretty clear though that it's the fans causing most of the issues by hounding players wherever they are.
