I'm mostly a browser, only an occasional poster, but amongst the many friendly, informative members there also seems to be a fair amount of arrogant and/or cranky members, and those who are both are brutal.
Just remember that it's a hobby and supposed to be fun and fulfilling. For those who are arrogant/cranky, it is probably neither. Sure, they may have an impressive and valuable collection, but none of us can take this stuff with us, so if we're not enjoying it, what are we doing??
If you're enjoying it and having fun with it, let that be enough
. Let those other folks be miserable if they want to.
