Except for this: I found out that the winner of that card was Keith Olberrman. I could have made multiple bids, and he still would have beat me. So maybe you would have gotten them with one more bid, and maybe not. Could be someone wanted them much more that you did. Lets hope that you get another chance soon.  |
I appreciate the pep talk. I have been bummed all day. I know that the Gehrig wasn't great, but it did feel like 6 grand after BP was a reasonable price - especially with the provenance - would you agree? Knowing my personality, I would have ended up 10 grand into it committed to winning, late for the race, and irritating everyone else as the reason that the auction had not yet closed. I have been reading all of the Carter letters here on the board. I watched the Mastro video and I love the picture of the newspaper article where he is showing off the Delongs around 1950. Something about that set really spoke to me. Maybe someday it will show up again. I will be more on the ball when that happens...
