Default gilbert

Hi all, I'm Chris. I've been a member for about a year and recently starting following more closely, but haven't been posting. Time to change that.

Here are my two Gilberts missing red. The one on the right was discussed in a recent thread: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...ilbert+missing (normal Gilbert pictured there too). The one on the left I recently picked up for next to nothing on ebay. It's very heavy on green and brown, but lacks red. It also has massive back damage. Regarding the backs, other than reasonable skepticism and noted correlation is there any evidence that certain compounds applied to the back (or directly to the front for that matter) actually do preferentially remove red leaving other colors untouched?
