In 1990, I was in the Air Force stationed about a couple hours from Oakland. A buddy and I went to see the A's and the Brewers. After the game there must have been 250 people lined up at fences near the players parking lot. One after one, the players came, ignored the fans, and got in their cars. Canseco was the last guy out. He came over to our fence and signed every item for every person. While he was doing that, he asked his wife to walk over to another fence to tell those folks he would be over when he finished at this side. It's 11:30 and Canseco easily signed 400 autographs. And, at that time, he was the biggest star in baseball.
People will say what they want about him, but to me he made a big impression that night.
