Fs-John Morrill framed and matted autographed wright & ditson sheet
Very cool signed Morrill item that has been double matted John Morrill cut... The cut looks to be a voting slip that was used by the directors of the wright and ditson company.
Honest John played from 1876-1890for the Boston red stockings, beaneaters, and a very short time for the Washington 9. He was born and raised in Boston, and quickly became a town fan favorite... He replaced George wright as the teams captain in 1879, and later replaced Harry as them manager... John played an integral role in the beaneaters first three pennants two as a player, and the third as a manager.
Morrill retired from the game in 1890 to open a sporting goods store, and was quickly recruited by the wright brothers to help build wright and ditson. Morrill remained with the company for 39 years.
He passed in 1932, and is a tough signature of a true dead baller.
Signature ha been matted with a copy of his old judge baseball card
