Two big thumbs up, Leon, from a fellow animal lover. Since I'm an attorney who is always involved in litigation, I tend to see the very worst in people when there is a lot of money at stake. I often think at those times that rare is the person who can match the character of a good house dog or cat. We had the most wonderful dog, an 80-lb American Staffordshire Terrier, that we had to put to sleep just a couple of months prior to her 15th birthday in 2010. My 40th HS reunion was scheduled for that same evening, already had tickets, but there was no way I could go after that. They are family! As the main character said in the movie, "Marley and Me," a dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, smart or dumb. Just give him all your heart, and he will give you all of his in return!

We now have four cats, two of whom look just like Richard's, and I've found the above to be a truism with them as well. They are all rescue cats, and the youngest, just a year and a half old, will climb up on my chest while I'm watching sports and pump his paws on my chest, and lick my neck and face.
Sometimes I'll just walk by him and he'll lay down, roll over on his back, and expose his belly for a tummy rub, which he seems to dearly love. My wife, who is also an animal lover, will sometimes exclaim in near exasperation, "We have four cats!" I just say "Yes, dear, we are truly blessed with cats."

After we retire, we'll get another dog--probably a female, as they seem to accept cats as part of their pack!

Great post--God will bless you for what you've done!

Larry
