I stumbled across a show this afternoon about mega meals...giant servings of food that are either novelties or contests.
A 54 inch pizza weighing 50 lbs, a hot dog so big it filled the whole grill (yet smaller in sum that what Joey Chestnutt ate in 10 minutes on July 4th

)
Gigantic hamburger , huge portions of chicken wings etc.
But the part that interested me was the 72 oz big steak challenge in Texas.
The show passed over a sign showing past champions, one was former big league pitcher Frank Pastore. He had the record at that restaraunt for several years before Chestnutt went there and beat his ~9 minute record. The contest includes all the sides, and reportedly only 1 in every 6 challengers succeeds. 4 and a half pounds of top sirloin...normally a months worth
So...
I started reading about Frank Pastore, and the man (died after a motorcycle accident at age 55) has an incredible life story. I won't spoil it for you, but do yourself a favor and look him up. Fascinating.
I got Hungry after watching the show, but no THAT hungry
