Default 1908 Syracuse Leather Card (L40) - Closed but available

This vintage leather card measures 2 9/16 x 3 9/16 slightly larger than a modern baseball card. It carries the L40 designation from Burdick and is part of a college cheer series. I don't think these are very common in this condition. The leather itself is soft and pliable. There are no stains. There appear to be two small chips (?) on the right border that may have been there for 107 years. The back is blank.

These leather cards date to 1908. They are larger than the tobacco cards of the era and how they were distributed is unknown to me. I believe there were a variety of sports depicted for different schools. This one obviously depicts an oarsman from the crew. I also think a school cheer is featured on each card.

If you know anymore pertinent information about these rarely seen leathers, post here or PM me. I bought this about 10 years ago and haven't seen one since. I believe the condition is extraordinary for this issue.

I would ask for an opening bid of $40 and minimum increments of $5. Let's wrap it up on Thursday at 7PM sharp CDT. I'll cover the shipping.
