(All-American Boy / Mr. Clean) extramarital affairs first leaked ?
I believe the Garvey's divorced in 1983.
As I recall, besides having his marriage go up in flames, he took a lot of heat
for it, lost some sizable endorsement deals, and perhaps suffered irreparable
damage to possible HOF consideration.
Yea, I could see where he might resent anything that reminds him of 1982/1983.
