An equally interesting double-header took place that same day: Mets vs. Cubs.

In Game 1, Nolan Ryan pitched seven innings and gave up only one hit - Tug McGraw took over and 39-year-old Mr. Ernie Banks laced a single to CF in the ninth as a pinch-hitter.

In Game 2, Ernie again pinch-hit in the ninth inning - this time hitting a 3-run Homer off Tom Seaver.

Thanks for this memory Ernie...Godspeed.
Murcer's HR off McDowell was in his last AB of the first game and he homered in all three of his official ABs of the second game.
