Take the statement for what it is. A generalization. MOST cards from 1970-present ARE virtually worthless. Think of the millions and millions of cards from the '80s and all the beat-up '70s stuff out there and the statement isn't that unreasonable.
And look at it this way. He's actually providing a service, so that I won't expect to make a ton of money off all those '88 Donruss cards I have when I pull out my price guide.

I think he was being generous with the 70's date. I would say the 99% of all baseball cards ever printed are worthless or close to it. Take away the star players, the highly overpriced plastic holders, and the cards that are in amazing shape for their age and all that is left is a bunch of cheap junk. A person can go on ebay or our B/S/T section and buy 100 year old cards for $10 or less anytime.
