On a positive note, if you have had the card for more than twenty years, it has done quite well in terms of appreciated value.

In 1995 George Davis was cited by Bill James as the "best player not in the Hall of Fame." George Davis was ultimately voted into the Hall by the Veteran's committee in 1998.

And don't forget that in 1995 the card could have been purchased for a couple of bucks.
