Looks to me like some kid wrote it, someone who had an idea of what Mathews' autograph looked like and tried to emulate it, wanting to impress his friends.
No real malicious intent.
I don't think it is from a professional forger.
Wow, what a title that is,,, professional forger. I hope they emblazon that on their tombstones
