The fact that MEARS was ignorant wasn't a serious factor. They are cool as heck. IMHO display items are second only to production items in terms of rarity, so whether they were cut from a display or constitute a full display is really only a matter of pricing rather than desirability. A proper full display I think would have brought a multiple of the hammer price of these 'cards'.
If the winner doesn't want them, I'll take them at my bid...They'd look real nice in an SGC holder; they do nice work with display items under 9" tall.

I agree entirely with what Adam says about the rarity of these items. If it had been the entire display, we are talking BIG BUCKS as Adam noted
As for the buyer not knowing what they are, rest assured he (I) knew. I just wish the Unitas would have been included so I could have added that to my collection too.
As you know Adam I am not a graded guy but your suggestion about having SGC encapsulate it has me thinking......
