I got a catalogue yesterday (wow, very, nice and pricey!) I have been tracking the stuff I am looking for online and refershing the recent bids.

I have not been able to get registered. I sent in a request for the bid number information but have not been able to get approved since this is the first auction that I am looking to bid at. Am I doing something incorrectly? I have purchased a bunch in the last 18 months (much to my wife's chagrin) - however, it has been exclusively on Ebay, shows, and private sellers (and an N54 transaction). If someone has had a similar experience and could let me know how to become a registered bidder, I would appreciate it.

Also, since I am new to these type of auctions, can someone inform on the 18.5% buyer premium? It seems pretty substantial - especially on a big dollar purchase. It seems like it is standard practice in an auction of this nature and I am guessing that it goes to cover the costs of a super expensive catalogue, but I had just not seen something like that before - as these costs are captured on the seller side on a site like Ebay.

Thanks,
Kevin
