Maybe the seller knows exactly what they are doing? As in, list some real but low dollar vintage cards and then sprinkle in a few higher dollar cards that are reprints and hope the buyers don't know any better and they get away with the money.
I know an auctioneer in my area who allegedly does this with "estate sales" that he has and I also think an eBay seller I have been after for years (with no luck or help from eBay) also does this.
If the card sells and the buyer doesn't know that it is a fake then the seller gets to keep the money and move on. If the buyer realizes what has happened, the seller gives the money back and says, "oops, I didn't know the card was fake".
