BEN KAUFF AMAZING & PRISTINE "LUMIERE NY" VINTAGE STUDIO PHOTO POSED IN AN AUTOMOBILE Astonishingly rare autograph ! And the irony of Kauff posing for a photo in a new car will be detailed later. Photo is crystal clear heavy stock photographers paper 8x10 with mat finish in nr mint condition despite the fact that it is almost 100 years old. Signed boldly in fountain pen on the reverse "Best of Luck to My Pal Kelly, BENNIE KAUFF" Began his career in 1912 with the Yankees, he played in the Federal League in 1914-15 leading the league in almost all offensive categories he was nicknamed "The Ty Cobb of the Feds" when the league dissolved he returned to play for the 1916-1920 Giants. Although on his way to a stellar career , his lifetime batting average was .311 in 1921 he was banned from baseball for life by commissioner Landis for his involvement amid charges over an auto theft ring which serves to make this photo even more ironic.
