Ruel played in the major leagues for 19 seasons. He played for the New York Yankees, st Louis Browns, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox. He is best known for scoring the winning run in the tenth inning of game seven to win the series for the Washington Senators. After his playing career, he coached for several teams and was a coach on the 1948 Cleveland Indians squad that won the World Series.
Ruel passed away in 1963, making his signature rather tough.
