In a game in June of 1967, Kaline struck out against Sam McDowell of the Indians. When he returned to the dugout, Kaline angrily slammed his bat into the rack and broke a bone in his right hand. He missed 26 games with the injury. Teammate Gates Brown was also in a cast on his left arm.

Here's a RARE vintage photo of the two Detroit Tigers warming up in the outfield at historic Tiger Stadium. It was taken in 1967 by noted Detroit News photographer Scotty Kilpatrick and is time-stamped on the back July 8, 1967. I was working in the News sports department at the time and was able to get this great photo for my collection.

Over the years, I had it signed in blue sharpie by both Kaline and Brown. It's a beauty. Now I'm ready to pass it on to another Tigers collector for $60 shipped. Paypal gift preferred.
