Default Tennis Anyone?

Is it just me or has Wimbledon lost its appeal for others with the seeming decline of US tennis on the international scene?

Born a sportaholic, I can generally get interested in just about any contest, game or match. Wimbledon, the crown jewel of tennis, I used to follow at least a little. At the highest level the cream always seemed to rise to the top and the chance of a 1,2,3 or 4 seed losing an early round match to 253,254 or 255 was indeed remote. Predictable names such as Sampras, McEnroe & Agassi always seemed to end up in the final. Now with the dearth of Americans in the brackets, even though a lot of upsets are occurring (I'm an underdog fan), my level of interest in the tennis scene is at an all time low.

In fact I can't remember the last time I watched tennis on the tube. I can't believe the ratings for the finals this year will not be down in the US, way down.

I'm sure there are players and fans of the game out there who disagree, but I suspect there are others like myself who used to follow big events in all sports and have crossed Wimbledon off their list, at least for the time being.
