Thanks to this thread, started looking for Alaska memorabilia from towns I used to work in and was stunned to find this 1924 Port Moller (AK) High School Herring Chokers photo.

Port Moller has been a seasonal fishing facility for more than 100 years. The High School operated from 1915 until 1931 when the town was abandoned. It is essentially a dock on the Bering Sea that processes world-class salted sockeye sides. Still operates under the Peter Pan Seafoods banner to this day. Notice the High School has no women, I would imagine, thus the moniker, Herring Chokers.
