I think that's the key. The saving money on listing fees might have been a factor before as well, but since May 1, it costs the same to list a 99-cent item as it does a $99k item at auction. Also, since Yee adds a subtitle for all or nearly all of his auction listings (which costs more than the listing itself, despite subtitles not being searchable), I don't think up-front listing fees are so much of a factor compared to the problem of having "leftovers" when you only run 3-4 auctions a year. Easier to list everything at a price guaranteed to sell, clean house, then start over for the next auction.
