I've been watching the obscure cable show "Future Phenoms" for several years, in which Summerall narrated film of the best high school football and basketball players in the country. His voice was a bit shaky, and you never saw Pat himself, but there he was, an icon of my youth still in the saddle. The last episode I saw a couple of weeks ago had new narrators for the body of the show, but there was Summerall's barely audible voice closing it out. He must have really loved doing it. It's sad to see the old-school voices passing away, they were the best. Vin Scully is a national treasure.
