Default FS: 1952 Topps Near Complete (274) Low Number Set All PSA Graded GPA 5.13

From Dean's Cards "In 1952, The Topps Chewing Gum Company issued the largest baseball set of its time. The 1952 Topps set marked a turning point for the Topps Chewing Gum Company and sent the company soaring past their competition. Today, the 1952 Topps set is not only hard to complete, but extremely expensive to complete as well. This is due in part to the Mantle card, as well as the hard-to-find, high number series. For that reason, many collectors choose to purchase low number sets, because they are so much more affordable. This 1952 Topps Low Number complete set consists of cards #1-310, and is a majority of the cards, for a fraction of the price of a complete set."

For most collectors the 1952 set needs no introduction. For sale today is without a doubt the nicest 1952 set I have ever seen. It is 274 out of 310 cards toward the low number set. ALL are graded by PSA, and the average grade is a solid 5.13. There are 66 cards graded unqualified 6 or higher, and the vast majority of cards center around the 4-6 grades. Very few grades below a 4 included in this lot! The stars and HOFers that are included are some of the nicer cards, centered more around the 5-6 range.

Indeed, this set is currently ranked #61 on the PSA Set Registry for 52 Topps under the name 'J & J 1952 Set'. Sets ranked this highly on the Registry really do not come up for sale that often. The complete list of cards is most easily viewable on the Set Registry here: http://www.psacard.com/PSASetRegistr...?s=133387&ac=1

I have included several pictures below, but on the whole I think this lot is pretty self explanatory. If you wish to see a scan of a specific card that I did not include, do not hesitate to email and ask. I will be more than happy to provide one that I have, or take another! I also have the cards organized on various spreadsheets, so if this is something you'd like, or you have any specific inquiries, again do not hesitate to email me.

Some top highlights include #175 Billy Martin Rookie graded a conservative 6, with tons of NM+ eye appeal and #286 Joe de Maestri PSA 8 which is one of the nicest old cards I've ever seen.

Other HOF and highlights: #1 Andy Pafko PSA 2.5, #26 Monte Irvin PSA 4.5, #37 Duke Snider PSA 5, #65 Enos Slaughters PSA 6, #66 Preacher Roe PSA 5, #129 Johnny Mize PSA 6, #200 Ralph Houk RC PSA 6, #216 Richie Ashburn PSA 5, #277 Early Wynn PSA 6, #310 George Metkovich PSA 5.

The full breakdown is as follows: 4 PSA 2's, 1 PSA 2.5, 8 PSA 3's, 47 PSA 4's, 6 PSA 4.5's, 104 PSA 5's, 12 PSA 5.5's, 58 PSA 6's, 2 PSA 6.5's, 5 PSA 7's, 1 PSA 8, 26 more with qualifiers (2 4MC, 3 5MC, 5 6MC, 2 7MC, 3 6OC, 7 7OC, 4 8OC). 274 cards total.

This lot is really something quite breathtaking, and the pictures of each individual card do not do the entire lot justice. Looking at the box, which weighs 26 pounds, makes you realize that this is truly one of the nicest groupings of the legendary 52's anywhere in the world. It is a wonderfully chilling feeling, and very satisfying to handle.

Please email me at vettejayk@aol.com with any questions or inquiries. Lot is ready to ship as soon as any deal is closed. Serious offers only please.

Price: $10,500 shipping and insurance included
