Net54 and facebook were acting weird yesterday. (Don't worry, Leon, just little technical stuff on Net54 when I was trying to post a link-- seemed fine a few hours later).
Also, big internet sites occasionally have down time for standard maintenance. Even major sites like NBC News will have announced down times once in a while.
