Scott - She was a popular actress. They even made a full size solid gold statue of her. Signed cabinets are great. I've seen some sell for hundreds of dollars.
Years ago I attended a book fair where I purchased over 100 turn-of-the-century tobacco actress cards. While thumbing through them, I saw the usual assortment of overweight women in tights or other unusual costumes. Then suddenly this card appeared and I was smitten. 
That was the start of my collection.
