Jimi- Maybe you could go to my site or oldcardboard and just try for one from each ACC designation, to start with....so .....1 B card, 1 C card, 1 D card, 1 E, 1 F card etc.... Or just collect whatever you like. For me, I want one of each type card from 1900-1949, backs included and variations included. I used to do 19th century too but it just got to be too much for me.
I have always considered the term "type collector" to be hobbyspeak for a person that snags what moves him at that particular moment. When he gets the urge to bid on something his options are endless. He can go after what ever there is to go after, if it gives him the "warm fuzzies". Once I shifted my focus to Pre-War, I became a fullblown type collector. It allows me to feed my monkey as often as it needs to fed. If you chase a single set and there are no cards available, then what do you do? wait? I just checked my ebay purchases for the last 60 days. I have scored cards from 26 different issues. 18 Pre-War sets and 8 from the Post War era are represented.
