With me it really depends on the condition of the bat. If I bought a bat from the 40's lets say, and its seen better days, I will probably linseed it and then wait a few more weeks to do it again. Some bats I dont touch at all. Cut off for me is about 60's or so. Anything newer I leave alone. Personal preference though.
I've heard nice things about the beeswax but have never tried it myself. I do know that if you try your regular wood spray, or I've tried some orange stuff, it dries your bat out.
I normally dont do it more than that because I still want it to have that vintage look. I dont want to clean off everything.
