Great memories of going to the 7-11 after my baseball games as a 7 and 8 year old. I think they always just seemed to have only 2 or 3 different players available - an impossible set to put together as a kid! (But I drank a lot of Slurpess and did my best!)

I put a small thin shelf up about 6 inches from the ceing going all the way around my bedroom in the 70s - the colors were great and they were away from any direct (or indirect) sunlight. They will last a long time, but any sunlight will first fade and then make them so brittle that they will crumble in your hands.

If you are looking for something to protect them, maybe you could look to see if those Beanie Baby cases would work. And, I am guessing you could get a bunch of the holders pretty cheaply nowadays...
