And therein lies the problem with these books. While the prices in the *books* often do not change, the prices in the *market* change all of the time. These books also don't often do a very good job of identifying those cards in vintage sets that aren't of stars but are more scarce and worth more than other cards in the set.
I use Vintage Card Prices (
www.vintagecardprices.com) to track actual sales prices of vintage cards. Between this, population reports from PSA/SGC, and one of the card price books (an older one is often fine), you can get a pretty decent idea of the current value of many vintage cards.
