It really is a beautiful photo, Mark. I feel like it has a more poignant narrative than most other photos (and their subjects) could even attempt. And you're right about the kids - the gloves and baseball are what really make it. Without them, it's just a few small children looking at a body, but with them, it's a few small children looking at an idol.
It's really that kind of touch that Norman Rockwell would add to his paintings (subject aside) that just made them emotive. Also, it's that kind of touch that makes him that much better than all the rest.
