Posted By: David R
T206 collector:

Given the main board discussion on dealer prices and the fact that you actually own this card, do you have any sense of how fairly it's priced?

want to buy: t206 plank sgc10/psa1
Posted By: T206Collector
"Fairly priced" is a loaded question. When I purchased mine, I had a number of people telling me that when the bidding went over $10K it was "way overpriced." But in my experience, people will often pay at least as much as the last auction for one of these super rarities. And I have already been offered more than I paid for mine.

Will Plank keep going up? My theory has always been that as people get further along in chasing down the Monster on ebay, they will want to take runs at the super rarities. I believe the remaining Planks and Magies should follow Wagner up the scale of unaffordability. That is why I wanted to get in last April while it was still possible for under $20K. And, I predicted at the time that scoring a PSA 1 Plank would cost about $20K, which is about what the cleaner PSA 1 went for the next (Saturday) night in REA. As such, I had put aside that much in savings to go after Lionel Carter's Plank. Fortunately, I got it for a lot less than I was willing to pay.

If this SGC 20 Plank went in last year's auctions, it would have gone for more than the PSA 1, but less than the SGC 30, which I think went for about $30K. So, perhaps it would have sold for $25K. As a result, I think this current Plank may not attract any starting bidders -- by that definition of "fairly priced" it is not. However, if your question is will this card exceed $30K in the near future? I would have to say it will. (Unless, of course, Plank follows the rest of the T206 set in its diminishing value and the decreases are sustained over a long period of time.)

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Visit http://www.t206collector.com for my blog, interviews, articles, card galleries and more!

want to buy: t206 plank sgc10/psa1
Posted By: quan
hey all,

just got some free time i did not expect this thread to get all this interest, i hope my sell thread get as much attention. thank you for all the input.

i did contact the seller of the sgc20 plank. personally i felt it was a low end 20 and if submitted again 10 times it'd come back a 10 half the time. the seller bottom line was 25k which i can respect but i don't think that's right for me at this time. like paul said the psa1 in last rea was much nicer and if i have to i'd rather pay a premium for something like that. the last psa2 went for 25k in the 9/07 SCP auction, so i'm shooting for 20-25k for one depending on how nice it is...i don't really care what the holder says.

Posted By: Mark T
if you are going to pay that much for a card make sure you like it. Sometimes a SGC 10 may look better than a SGC 20. I am sure one will come up for your range that you like.

Posted By: JimB
I agree with Mark that for that kind of money, you need to really like the card. However, I don't think 25k is out of line for that Plank. Two years from now it will be 35k.....
JimB
