Best Looking T206 Commons?

Posted By: Jared
I'm looking to purchase 3 raw T206 commons to frame for my work office, and am looking for suggestions on the nicest-looking ones. My requirements are simple:

a) Cheap - trying to stay under $25 for all three
b) Action shots
c) High-quality artwork on the card

Anyhow, rather than spend hours thumbing through the hundreds of T206's and scouring eBay for them, I figured I'd ask you guys! Sorry if something similar has been asked before.

- Jared

Posted By: barrysloate
For action shots I love Pelty, horizontal pose. All the horizontals are exceptional, but might cost a little more than $25. Since you are framing, look for nice fronts with back damage. Those are more affordable.

Posted By: Phil
I started my T206 collection with the same idea, but I was going to frame about 10. Limiting it to 3 is next to impossible in my opinion. I was trying to limit my collection to about 10 raw T206s. Now 3 years later, I have over 200 graded T206s. Be careful, a small project like yours could grow and grow and grow.
With that being said, if I had to hold my collection to 3 raw T206s, my vote goes for:

Kissinger
McLean
Taylor

J ust my 2 cents.......

Posted By: PC
As the choices above demonstrate, most T206s are really nice, which is one of the reasons the set is so popular. There are so many great cards, that I think you'll find more of a consensus on the few "odd" looking poses.

Since you are looking for action shots, maybe limit yourself to a throwing pose or a pitching pose, with a sunset background. Just about any three of those cards, framed in a row, will look great. Then, do a bunch of searches on eBay, and find three that are lower condition and within your price range, but present well (no heavy creases). Maybe look for cards with heavy back damage, but nice fronts.

You can do the same thing with three T206 portraits, with the same background color, or red-yellow-orange, etc.

Just don't permanently mount the cards in the frame! With enough backing, the cards should stay put without having to be glued.

Posted By: Tim Sanders
I agree I have placed some SGC graded cards in a frame and they are applied to the frame with Elmer's Poster Tack- break off a little piece and attach it to the back of the holder or in this case a screw-down or card saver and apply it to the back of the frame- they stay in place and clean up easily when you decide to change them!
