Posted By: Jodi Birkholm
The Philly/ex-Reading shows by a landslide. I enjoy the show more for the fact that so many hobby and industry friends being gathered in one place for a few days than for any actual purchases. I rarely ever find anything worth purchasing at any show anymore.

Posted By: leon
The National one is the only show I go to so it's my favorite. I am contemplating doing some more shows in the future. The Philly show would be good to attend, from what I hear...As well as the one that Mark M puts on in WA or CA (I forget where it is exactly)...regards

Posted By: Chris Counts
I really ilke Mark McRae's twice-a-year shows in San Leandro, California (It's located just south of Oakland). They remind of the Southern California Card Collectors Club shows in the 1970s. They may be small, but the room is packed full of great vintage stuff. Plus, how can you resist a show that offers hot dogs for a buck!

Posted By: Anthony S.
Last year Mark's San Leandro shows were in June and, I believe, November. Definitely has that intimate location/old-time feel that many of us who collected in the 70's remember fondly. I was just a little kid in the 1970's, but still remember the look and feel of those shows vividly.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Card show? What's that?

Actually they have a card show at the local mall about 2-3 times/year...the tables are actually spread out in the mall corridors between stores and not in any central location of the mall. It's pretty ridiculous...and so are the prices on the one or two dealers that actually have anything vintage.

Posted By: Chris Counts
Back Damage,

Mark or another Bay Area collector always seems to post info on this forum regarding the San Leandro shows. Kevin at Stevens Creek Sports Cards in San Jose always sets up at the shows, so he also might know the dates. If you can't find any information about them, you can email me and I'll track it down. There's also a Cow Palace show in the spring ...

Washington/Willow Grove/Reading and next month King of Prussia

I have to admit that for each of these four I have been to at least one show that was a disappointment. I don't mean to put a damper on this post. I am just being honest.

Posted By: Fred C
Alan,

I've seen TIK at a few Nationals where his inventory didn't seem as extensive as what he's broght to Fort Washington. You could spend hours and hours in his stall at Ft. Washington. Sports, non-sports and the GOOD STUFF from the 19th century. I can only speculate but I would guess that logistics and location has something to do with toting EVERYTHING around to the different shows.

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
It should be no surprise to any one, if I say without a doubt that the Eastern Pennsylvania Sports Collectors Club
(Philly) show is my favorite. For the consistency of high quality from 1975 to 2008 (100+ shows), this sports card
show is unparalleled. Thank you Bob Schmierer for making this the greatest show in our hobby.

I have only done these five National Shows

1982....St Louis
1984....New Jersey
1988....Atlantic City
2003....Atlantic City
2007....Cleveland

They were really good....but, not as good as Philly for me.

TED Z
