Posted By: ErikV Merrill, Speaking by experience, it's going to be difficult. I began my sub-set in 1988, just after Eight Men Out the movie was released. Finding the more common guys like Cicotte, Gandil and even Jackson will cost you some, but are obatinable. Others like Felsch, Risberg and Williams are a bit more difficult. The key to the set is McMullin. It took me ten years to find the elusive Zeenut McMullin card which I discovered on auction - by chance! A handful of McMullin cards have been auctioned only a few times in the last ten years and will deffinately cost you. I understand there are only a handful of Black Sox collectors have been able to put this sub-set together. Best of luck working on this set. It's a wonderful and historic sub-set that still carries with it a sense of mystery and aura. ErikV

Posted By: Frank WakefieldExtremely difficult, that is the answer. 7 are in W514. Risberg will cost quite a bit, but can be found. Jackson will cost more, and can eventually be found. McMullin is the difficult one. He's on a 1915 ZeeNut card. If you can find one for sale he'll cost more than all of the other 7 would in W514. If you're willing to have cards that weren't contemporary with their playing days, then your options expand and your pocketbook survives. 2 are in the white border tobacco card set, T206. Cicotte's Cracker Jack card is one beautiful card. I think it looks better than Jackson's Cracker Jack. If you're going to mix and match, spend a few dollars for Cicotte's Cracker Jack card. Probably should get Abe Attel too, he's in some boxing sets, and is affordable.

Posted By: BlackSoxFanWell thanks for the shout out guys!!! I myself am fascinated by the scandal. Only one set exists that has all eight players (a 1917 Davis Printing set). Unfortunately, there is only one copy of each card. As others mentioned, the w514 set offers a reasonably affordable way to obtain everyone sans McMullin. You can certainly obtain cards of the seven other players without breaking the bank. Jackson is the only one who carries a true premium; however, cards of the other players tend to fall in the "hall of famer" category (with regards to price). I was interviewed for an article that came out in SCD some time ago (<a href="http://blog.blacksoxfan.com/hobbycollecting-news/im-in-the-news" target="_new" rel="nofollow">http://blog.blacksoxfan.com/hobbycollecting-news/im-in-the-news</a>/) But as you will see the article has been removed. I'll see if I can dig up a copy of it for you. I haven't posted anything to the blog in quite some time, but perhaps this will give me a kick to start writing again. Not for direct involvement with the Black Sox (lots insinuated; nothing ever proven), but for the entire body of work in the fields of bribery and corruption. Like the Eight Men, he was banned for life by Judge Landis. His cards are everywhere. There are five T206s (more than anybody else in the set), three T205s, and TEN T202s, counting only his appearances in the center panels. And caramel cards and strip cards. Posted By: BlackSoxFanIn all of my research, I've seen nothing that sufficiently links Chase to the Scandal. Abe was a key figure in the plot. If you are looking for "fringe" players, you would probably want to look at Joe Gedeon. He bet on the series after talking with Risberg. A total of eleven players who appeared in the 1919 series were banned at some point by Landis. The "Eight Men Out" were banned for the fix; Dick Kerr, Heinie Groh, and Ray Fisher were banned for contract disputes.
