Posted By: john/z28jd
Charlie Snow, the ultimate great bat no field players in major league history. He played one career game for Brooklyn in 1874,coming in late in a blowout to Boston. A career 1.000 hitter,he also made 3 errors for a career .000 fielding %

The score of that game was 29-0 Boston and do you know why they lost? Because he was from Lowell Mass and he went to play for a NY team! He was such an outcast from there on out that he lived his life away for another 55 years in Brooklyn, never allowed back into Massachusetts again to atone for his sin.

and of course I tied everything in to make it a vintage post but on topic,C.Snow in Brooklyn,Barry is in Brooklyn(As is Charles Snow),and just like Charles Snow,Mass. doesn't want this snow either. Posted By: davidcycleback
Freezing for past several days and about three inches on the ground in Seattle-- which is very unusual. Still, it's hovers around 30 degrees during the day, so it's comfortable enough walking around. I was told Seattle has one snow plow for a city of 500,000+ (says how much show ordinarily get), and the city has lots of hills, so there are driving and public transportation issues. People here know they are winter weenies and don't know how to deal with snow and cold. When it was 23 (ooh, aah) the local weatherman flashed the temperature in North Dakota (20 below or whatever) to show us that we're winter wimps.

But don't worry about me, I have a mush dog. Posted By: Mark
Seattle is really bad... and to make it worse, no mail or UPS deliveries Just too many hills, and not enough plows, no salt, no sand, no roadside assistance or accomodations of any kind.

I had to walk away from my car, and hoof it 4 miles through the ice just to get home. The next storm (Sunday) is supposed to dump even heavier, and carry strong winds with likely power outages. Lots of "fun" for a San Diego transplant!

Posted By: davidcycleback
I moved to Seattle from Wisconsin (where winter lasts more than five days), and, in defense of the wimps in Seattle, it is very hilly (which would cause problems anywhere when iced) and gets some good wind storms. When my above pictured dog was a puppy, he wasn't allowed on the second floor deck during a windy spell-- fear he'd blow off. He's pictured as an adult wearing a ferret collar, as cat collars were too big.

The foregoing is BS. The weather in Hawaii lately has sucked big-time. Last week we were hit by wind and rain storms, up to 14" of rain in some parts of Honolulu, attendant flooding, cars floating away, federal disaster area, heckuva job Brownie, all that fun stuff. Meanwhile the volcanoes over by Frank Ward's house on the Big Island have been spewing nasty mega-vog that has covered Oahu with an end-of-the-world gloom. Can't see, can't breathe, suicide hot-lines are jammed, and that's just the tourists. But at least we don't have to shovel it. Stay warm, guys.

Posted By: Dustan Hedlin
Shoveling ice is fun! I just got done shoveling my sidewalk and steps, along with those of my neighbor. I live about an hour south of Naperville, and we got some snow, then some ice, then some rain, then some more ice, and then it all froze together. This time next week it will probably be in the mid 40's - low 50's. I love IL weather!
