My mother sent me a few photos of a great uncle of mine who played for what I'm guessing is an amateur or minor league baseball team in Avon, IL in maybe the 20's or 30's. I'm not sure of the exact date at all, and I could be way off, but she sent me a scan of one of the pictures she has and I was hoping someone would have some information on the team/league, etc. Any help is appreciated.<br /><br />Sorry for the small picture but it's all I have at the moment.<br /><br /><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/Dustanh1/unclewileypowell001.jpg">

Posted By: <b>Ken McMillan</b><p>most likely an amateur team knowing the size of Avon. I lived in Macomb for about 9 years and not much in Avon especially in the 20's and 30's. Don't recall anyone ever mentioning any form of minor league baseball in that area as if was often referred to as "Forgotonia" . Macomb was referred to As the capital of Forgotonia. Could also be a pony league team.<br /><br />Kmac

There is not a date attached to the photo, but I have included a link from which these photos came. Perhaps they can help you. I will see what else I can find, as I "love to hunt".<br /><br />I really like the second photo! The graphics at the bottom are just great. The London Midway Ball Club apparently was just up the road from your Avon Team.
