Posted By: MB3
Looks like Milehigh auction has some unreal cards for sale. Has anyone ever heard of a olive bordered card from 1911? It has a Red Sun back.

Posted By: leon
I got a voice mail on Friday that said my statement on the board was classless concerning the 2 for 1 Four Base Hit debacle. I better not say anything else.....and btw, all of the front page banner ads are sold. They have been since day 1.

The most recent example was also
the highest graded among the 20, It was a PSA 5 and was sold by Mastro earlier
this summer for $1560.

Our example is an SGC 80-we were lucky to find it at a dealer's table at the first Reading show

Challenging set, indeed,

Bruce Dorskind
America's Toughest Want List

Posted By: MB3
Hey thanks Bruce. I have seen so many baseball cards but never one of those. If only 29 have been graded then they have to be real rare. MB3

Posted By: MB3
I looked on the PSA registry and they do not even list the 1910 olive bordered series however when i punched in the player it is a population 1/1. It also says minor league card.

Posted By: Tom Boblitt
just go with T211 Red Sun. Whilst (you missed your whilst in your post Bruce......) PSA and SGC only have 100 or so potentially graded, I know of a couple board members who each have a lot of them that are likely ungraded. I don't see this issue as one that people are falling over to get graded. The # of high grade ones out there is miniscule and a lot of people won't grade stuff that would wind up in 3's 4's or 5's. Just my opinion on that. The cards are sufficiently scarce enough that grading doesn't enhance them a ton unless they're really nice.

Posted By: Jay
Greminger is one of the more common T211s. They are scarcer than T210s and T209s but, if all you are looking for is a type card, not rare. The card in the auction is a $500-$600 card.

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
I agree with Tom and Jay...

Especially about there being some Red Sun cards out there in the hands of folks who aren't inclined to get them graded.

I just got through swapping a Red Sun for a Red Sun with a board member. Old fashioned trading and haggling may well be the best way to get one.

Posted By: MB3
I appreciate all the insight and comments regarding Red Sun back. It was the first one i have ever seen and 100 dollars seemed like nothing for the card. I guess putting the 75 card set together is virtually impossible.

Posted By: B OBrien
Hello all,
I have never registered with an auction house, more of a grass roots kinda buyer. I however see something in this auction that I kind of need for a Christmas present! Can I get in without any background with the auction houses?
Thanks for the help,
Bob

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
I think that back in the 70s and 80s a fellow could have had a chance at buying Red Suns one at a time and putting together the 75 card set. It would have required buying out Lew Lipset's stock of them, and all of Larry Fritsch's, plus having some good fortune at shows.

Today I do not think it possible. To have a chance you'd need to buy one or two near sets, then do some trading with old timers and whales.

Posted By: shane Leonard
Leon,
Did you happen to speak with Brian on your unwarranted/unfair comments that you made on Friday? I know he left you a message and then you tried calling him back and then you left word on his voice mail. Pretty rude thing for you to do in my opinion. I actually think you are a pretty cool guy and I for the life of me can't imagine you starting off that thread negatively for no reason.

Regards,
Shane
