D304...Wow! Can anyone shed some light on this?
Posted By: Noel
This is a sharp looking card and should command a premium. My best estimate on this one was probably around 10K-15K...Any thoughts?

http://www.sgccard.com/pricesrealized/index.php?level=picture&id=1229

Posted By: ali_lapoint
lots of stuff over sells in major auctions. on that particular day 2 or more people really wanted that mathewson and bid accordingly. is there any other explanation one can give?

Posted By: stefan
D304's prices have been increasing most recently the mathewson is not the only example that has got a ridiculous price infact goodwin auctions had several d304's that got stupid money and for some reason they continue to do so. only thing i can think of is that two big whale's are battling for the complete set for a registry. and for bread cards 4's and 5's are pretty high grade considering that most show up in vg or less.
Posted By: Noel
I have tracked them for a while and even own a couple and completely expected the prices realized for Cobb and Wagner. I just dont recall a Matty going for anywhere near that range even in the assigned grade. I know it was a Brunners back but was just making sure i wasnt missing something. It is an outstanding card to be sure.

Ali--Thanks for the brilliant deduction, next time i will confirm the price before posting.
