How about explaining this one to me?
Posted By: Bob
A run of the mill T207 common in vgish shape, nothing special, should go for about $25. The back is an Anonymous instead of a recruit but that adds very little premium. Check out the winning bid.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=310069698339&ssPa geName=STRK:MEDW:IT&ih=021
Some things just don't make a lot of sense....

Posted By: paulstratton
I think Mike(hi Mike) put in a super large snipe expecting to win and someone else put in a bigger one. Third bid was in the mid 30's.

Posted By: paulstratton
I do think Leach is maybe a little tougher than a common common, at least lately it seems to be. I've never seen the high bidder win a t207 before, but looking at what he has won lately he mostly collects Pittsburgh items from what I can see.

Posted By: Mike
That card was sort of a perfect storm for me. I collect all three - T207's in general, Anon3 recruits in particular, and Pirates in T205/6/7. My other copy of that Leach is a relatively unattractive SGC A as well...

Yes, dangerous way to bid - I'm glad I was on the underside.

--
Mike

How about explaining this one to me?
Posted By: Jim VB
Mike,

That's exactly how I bid on something I really want.

When I win, I tell myself that I only paid one bid increment more than someone else would have, and feel good about it.

When I lose, I tell myself that, obviously, some "fool" was willing to overpay, and I wasn't, and feel good about it.

This gets me through from auction to auction. There don't seem to be any organizations with daily meetings for this addiction.

Posted By: Mike

Thanks, Jim - you hit it right on the head on all counts.

I think a 12-step program is in order...
