Slight T206 Cobb Red Variation?

Posted By: Lance
I have never noticed this before, nor have I had two examples show up in the same day, but Cobb seems to be looking up at the ceiling in one example and looking straight ahead in the other. Is it a printing glitch or is it the difference in th 350 and 460 series? (Looking up is the 460)

I thought it was cool.

Posted By: Jon Canfield
To me, it looks like the registration is off on the example on the right. The whole face area seems to be a little blurry and I believe that caused the "eyes effect".

Posted By: Lance
The left is a PSA 4 and the right is an SGC 40...full scans are on the B/S/T. The registration is off a little. Maybe a few higher grade examples will show up to clarify this.

Posted By: David R
I don't think it's a registration issue with the one on the right because my red Cobb has perfect registration and he's looking straight (not up). I don't have a scan handy otherwise I would post it.

P.S. Mine has an Old Mill back.

David R

Posted By: Steve Dawson
That seems to be a common "variation" in T206's, due to the printing process. I've seen many cards from the set, where the player's eyes seem to be looking in different directions.

Steve

Posted By: fkw
Lips show a registration problem on the one on the right.

Every T206 is slightly different if you look closely, all because of the registration of each color printed.

For those who havent see it, here is a good page that shows how they were printed.
http://www.caramel-cards.com/printing.html
