Posted By: robert a
Hi Marty,

The matty card has different type set due to the length of his last name so that they could fit in on the card.

The Chase has become more popular over the past couple years and commands a bit of a premium over some of the other non-hofers.

That being said, it's not short printed or anything like that.

I think the popular players have more surviving copies which is why the commons are a bit harder to find.

Rob

Posted By: Mike
Hi Everybody,
The Chase is not that hard to find. One of the reasons for the spike in recent times is that I was trying to build a color set. The lowest I paid was 198 for a green and the highest I paid was 410 for a SGC 10 blue. The card is not the toughest. I would say the Coombs or Vaughn are.
Best Wishes,
Mike Gray
gray766@hotmail.com

E98 questions
Posted By: Bob
Highest priced cards in the E98 set, IMHO, are Cobb closely followed by Wagner which has been gaining steam, Young and Mack. Chase isn't even close. I'd say that Chase auction was an aberration.
The two toughest cards in the set are Vaughn and Coombs. Dahlen, Kling, Walsh and Tenney are in the next group of scarcity. The Ed Walsh is a wild card. Rarely seen in mid grade (or higher) condition. This card's prices are very erratic and have huge swings based on timing. I have seem it sell for as little as a Lajoie (still a stout price) or as much as a Young.
I think right now the Wagner is the "hottest" card in the set and Mack is on fire also.
