Posted By: Bernie
For those of you who don't know his story ... I just found this today and was really intrigued. Sounds like he could have been a star if he wasn't so attached to the bottle.

http://bioproj.sabr.org/bioproj.cfm?a=v&v=l&bid=979&pid=3677

Posted By: Timmi Donlin Uhlich
Having a slow day, I decided to get on line and look up information on my Great Uncle - Turkey Mike Donlin. I had heard many tales growing up about his antics and this article had some great history.

I really was looking for some info to pass on to my grandson, who is now advancing in little league and is getting pretty serious about the game. His team's the Yankees and I thought Mike was on the first World Series team - only it was the NY Giants - not Yankees. On my maternal side, my Mother was related to Johnny Mize - so, there is a good gene pool for my grandson to pull from.

Again, Thanks
Timmi

To my knowledge it is the only Donlin Stenzel Rooter pin to have surfaced, nearly all pins from this set have known populations of either 1 or 2.
-Rhett

Here is what the backs look like...

Posted By: cmoking
Ted, thanks. I don't have the whole set, and I haven't seen the whole set...but I think that is correct. I assume they used his stats instead of a team because he wasn't on a team at the time of printing.

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
Mike Donlin was certainly one of the most colorful characters during the early 20th Century BB scene.
Who knows how good he could have been....if he had only taken BB more seriously. As you well know,
New Yorkers really loved this guy; and, perhaps American Lithographic (based in NYC) wanted to make
a point of this by noting Donlin's batting record. when they printed his T213 card.

Regards,
TED Z

Posted By: leon
That is the only T213 with stats on front.
King- that is a really nice example. I had to upgrade 3 times to get one close to that nice. Many times that card is O/C top to bottom.....regards
