Posted By: Paul
I was just about to post the same thing, but my title was going to be: "What was this card and why didn't Leon buy it?"

What was this card?
Posted By: leon
First of all this ebay one isn't similar to the very recently cataloged E-Unc Oakland Oaks issue of 1910, from the few examples I have seen, and the one I own (below). I am not quite sure what this one was that was on ebay.....nor did I see it ...I consider the 1910 Oaks cards to be quite rare....Don't know what the ebay card is, offhand....

What was this card?
Posted By: fkw
I bid, lost, and have never seen the Brenton or another from that series either.

I was sort of turned off by the rough condition, but I think it went for a good price overall, compared to some more well know PCL tougher issues.

It has sort of the same look as an E135 on the surface and design, and E135s were made in San Francisco so it may actually be related to the Collins-McCarthy Co. ???? Never know.

What was this card?
Posted By: boxingcardman
We know that the Oaks issued at least one team issue, and since the player was an Oaks player, I figured that was the most likely explanation. As far as the card itself and era, my guess is 1920s and not Collins McCarthy because the printing of the card isn't consistent with their issues. Anyone else have any thoughts? Mark Macrae would be a good voice to hear from on this.

Sic Gorgiamus Allos Subjectatos Nunc

What was this card?
Posted By: Rich Klein
One of the biggest PCL collectors in the hobby -- it sure seems like he knew what he was doing to bid on that card. And yes, I agree that Mark Macrae would be able to give a detailed explanation of that card

Regards
Rich
