American Tobacco Company Ledger
Posted By: scott brockelman
I have had 2 or 3 of the T206 pages from one of the ledgers, the best one was a Carolina Brights page, actually it was a partial page, card mounted front and back showing, sold it years ago on ebay. Anybody here have it?

Scott

Posted By: PC
Scot -- these ledger fragments have some useful information to update your excellent "Inside T206" treatise. The Dygert Cycle 350 page indicates a July 1910 release, which matches nicely with your reference on pp. 16-17 of a July 1910 release for American Beauty 350s.

It would have been interesting to see the release dates on the Reulbach brown Hindu page, but unfortunately those are cut-off.

On the page next to the Reulbach Hindu, I think it indicates that there is 1 card per box of 10 cigarettes ("cigts") except for the Philadelphia territory, and then it says 2 per box of 10 cigarettes for the Sweet "Cap'l" backs (I think) in the Phildelphia territory.

Maybe that's why there are so many Sweet Caporal branded T206s ... they were doubling them up.

Posted By: peter ullman
I also remember seeing those at tik & tik's booth at the 95 national...I think. Also at that show one of the big auction houses had a letter from uzit to the ATC with samples of uzit cards pasted at the bottom of the letter...there was atleast 1 baseball card I remember. Boy do I wish I had ponied up for some of those now!!!!!

The ledger cutouts ranged from $100-$350 if I remember correctly and the uzit letter was an absurd $2200.

Posted By: PC
I wonder if the fronts and backs of these ledger cards are two halves of the same card? In other words, the backs of the player fronts are blank, and the face down part of the backs are also blank. Certainly would support the theory that the backs and fronts were separately printed.
