Confusing 1936 Goudey Card

Posted By: Philip
I have a 1936 Goudey card that CLEARLY says "Paul Brubaker" on it. Everywhere I look I see that this card should be "Bill Brubaker." Is there a known misprint or something? Can't find anywhere. Don't think it's been monkeyed around with I have a scan that seems to show a faint B under the P. Very confusing. If you can help, can you please email me?

Posted By: Anthony N.
I've never seen a variation in this set, but there are some that have the white highlight around the sig, while others don't:

There are 2 Paul's in this set, Waner and Derringer. Derringer seems to line up with Brubaker signature- it's it possible the highlight plate got messed up?

Posted By: Philip
I'm looking at your response and it really does look like the other Paul misprinted on top of Bill (or vice versa).

Question, of course, is does this make it potentially valuable and does anyone know anyone who is expert in this sort of thing. Do I have the "inverted jenny" of 1936 Goudey cards?
Posted By: Anthony N.
Phillip- Unfortunately I think the answer is no. Yours seems pretty consistent with mine, and I've had several sets of these and haven't seen one that is any different. Compounding this is the fact that this particular set gets very little attention, so I don't think you're going to be able to fill your car with gas on the proceeds from this one.Sorry!
