Posted By: Mark T
And with the new Ebay feedback, you CAN'T leave any NEG feedback. What purpose is that.

Also, i have a feedback of 290, most were buys/sells from 2004-2006. So does that mean since my feedback for the last 12 months is only 96 my rating will go way down?

Posted By: Iggy...
For the record: Buyers can still leave negative or neutral feedback. Sellers cannot! It's a stupid/idiotic "new" system which is going to make all sellers feedback (even the good ones) go into the toilet. In due time, the barometer for good sellers will be ten or less negatives. I would also dare guarantee, that by the end of the year, not one power seller will be able to keep their feedback score within the range that eBay established to receive a discount.

Lovely Day...

Posted By: Chris
I don't like not being able to leave a neg for a buyer but I believe people are overreacting to the fear that buyers are just going to be handing out negs left and right. As a seller I always leave feedback when the payment is received so that would open me up to a similiar threat for bad feedback but it never has. I think bottom line is if you keep good communication with the buyer you can still maintian good feedback. I could be wrong but we will see.

Posted By: Iggy...
With the new feedback policy in effect. Whenever the mood strikes me, I can now threaten a seller with a negative (for whatever reason), without fear of retribution. It's a strange world we live in....

By the way, my eBay handle is "iggy-man" with +2200 transactions all positive. Let me tell you my unfinished story. I sold a bunch of cards last week... Well the feedback system changed today and I just received an email from a buyer who purchased two cards. One in Ex/Mt which he liked and promptly gave me positive feedback. The next was Vg/Ex, he stated the corners have wear. No joke, that is why it was Vg/Ex. He asked if he could receive a discount??? I told him to send the card back and I will refund. He has yet to reply and has yet to leave feedback for this card...which I understand is his right. Now, I'm certainly not perfect and this all could be an honest exchange of emails. But the point of the matter is, whether he realizes it or not he has me "over a barrel." I'm not going to lose any sleep over it and perhaps I'm overreacting, but with the new feedback policy I have a feeling that my 100% feedback rating is about to take a tumble.

Lovely Day...

Posted By: Ken McMillan
What ebay should really do is eliminate all feedback from people who are no longer users.....that is both negative and positive. might represent what actually is going on with feedback from all sellers and buyers. Posted By: Iggy...
Okay, since I'm still trying to comprehend this new feedback policy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears from a "sellers" standpoint, it's in my best interest "NOT" to leave my positive feedback until after positive feedback is left for me. I know that statement doesn't make any sense, since by not leaving feedback beforehand you might incur the wrath of a ticked-off buyer. But, here is how I'm ciphering this feedback policy.

You see, if I feel a buyer has been dishonest and leaves me an unjustified negative. My only recourse is to click on the "report a problem with this transaction" link via eBay. Well, this link is only available on the feedback menu. Once you leave your positive feedback (for the buyer) the link is gone and you cannot get it back. I suppose, you can send an email directly to eBay explaining the situation, but by leaving positive feedback beforehand, you will have a little tougher time justifying your case in front of an entity that keeps placing more and more of the burden on the seller. Plus, if you lose your case (as most will), you provided a positive to a knucklehead buyer who didn't deserve it.

Lovely Day, Iggy...
I guess I am like MSNYC. I check ebay fairly regularly, but it is not my focus. I have to not only want the card but know/trust the seller. Posted By: TFerg
I was thinking more along the lines of less-than-reputable sellers having a shill in place when a big spender has shown interest. I don't even know if sellers can see who's bidding on their wares until the auction is complete. I do know that feedback is a very big deal to alot of people on the boards I frequent. Some sellers seem to think the new changes are going to wreak havoc on their ratings(and wallets). I have never given a negative (I buy only) and hope I never do.
